Holy.
Hagia.
Kadosh.
To set apart. Dedicate. Consecrate. Bless. Set as sacred.
That is how we describe our God. But more than that, even God’s very name.
This weekend we will talk more about God’s moniker. What it is. What it means for us.
Something worth considering in the meantime is that some of our Jewish brethren consider God’s designation so holy that they will not even utter Adonai (Lord), but will only whisper, Hashem (the name) in its place.
Because just as when Moses approached the burning bush and knew that there was something wholly other and wondrous, so it is when we approach any aspect of our God. Most especially the word God uses to describe God’s own self.
Food for thought. See you Sunday!
Blessings,
Rev. Janie
